FIFA Rankings: Morocco Climbs to 11th Place Worldwide

The Atlas Lions have moved up one spot to reach 11th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking, published Thursday by the International Football Federation (FIFA).

Morocco now has 1706.27 points (+7.55), taking advantage of Germany’s drop to 12th (-3). The Germans slipped out of the Top 10 for the first time since October 2024, penalized by their defeat in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

With this rise, Morocco returns to the position it last held in April 2023, just behind Croatia and Italy, who now occupy 9th (+1) and 10th (+1) respectively.

At the very top of the table, a major shake-up occurred: Spain (1st, +1) ended Argentina’s reign at the summit. The Albiceleste fell to 3rd (-2), losing the top spot they had held since April 2023. With this return, the reigning European champions reclaimed the No. 1 position for the first time since 2014.

France (2nd, +1) also overtook Argentina, while Portugal re-entered the Top 5 (5th, +1), benefitting from Brazil’s drop to 6th (-1).

In Africa, Morocco continues to dominate the continental ranking, ahead of Senegal, who remain 18th globally. Egypt stayed third in Africa but slipped one spot worldwide to 35th, followed by Algeria, down two places to 38th.

Among the biggest movers, Slovakia (42nd, +10) made the most significant leap, breaking back into the Top 50 after a strong start to their qualifying campaign, which included a win against Germany.

Other notable risers include Gambia (115th, +8), Madagascar (108th, +7), Paraguay (37th, +6), Uganda (82nd, +6), Libya (112th, +5), Suriname (131st, +5), and the Faroe Islands (136th, +5).

Also worth highlighting, Canada (26th, +2), one of the three co-hosts of the next FIFA World Cup, and Kosovo (91st, +4) both achieved their highest-ever rankings since the system was introduced in 1993.
