UNAF U17: Atlas Lion Cubs Dominate the Tournament with Four Wins and Claim an Emphatic Title

Morocco’s U17 national team once again confirmed its full potential by brilliantly winning the Union of North African Federations (UNAF) tournament, securing qualification for the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations. The title was sealed on Sunday evening at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, following a controlled 3-1 victory over Libya.
From the opening seconds, the young Moroccans made their intentions clear. It took just two minutes for Adam Boughazir to open the scoring, immediately setting the tone for a match dominated by the Atlas Lion Cubs. Despite Libya equalizing in the 10th minute through Mohamed Jroud, the Moroccan side remained composed. Just before halftime, Boughazir completed his brace (45th), sending Morocco into the break with the advantage.
After the restart, Morocco continued with determination and composure. Adnane Boujofi added a third goal in the 55th minute, effectively sealing the outcome. Solid, organized, and highly disciplined, the Lion Cubs then managed the remainder of the match with impressive maturity, allowing no real chances for their opponents.
This victory crowns an outstanding campaign. Morocco finished the tournament with a perfect record, registering four convincing wins against Tunisia (2-0), Algeria (3-0), Egypt (2-1), and Libya (3-1). A performance that highlights the quality of this promising generation and its ambitions on the continental stage.
This triumph carries particular significance ahead of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host. Riding this winning momentum, the Atlas Lion Cubs already appear as serious contenders to shine on home soil and write a new glorious chapter in Moroccan football.
