Motorcyclist Arrested After Striking Police Officer; Public Prosecutor Opens Judicial Investigation
The Judicial Police Brigade of the Al-Rahma security district in Casablanca, under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, opened a judicial investigation on Thursday, February 19, concerning a 27-year-old motorcyclist. He is suspected of driving in a prohibited lane, refusing to comply with police orders, and intentionally assaulting an on-duty police officer.
According to preliminary findings and a video circulated on social media, the suspect allegedly deliberately struck a police officer who was managing traffic flow at the entrance to the Al-Rahma area shortly before iftar on the first day of Ramadan. The driver reportedly refused to comply and sped forward at high speed, causing injuries to the officer.
The injured officer was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, while the suspect was taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
