The Moroccan Jewish Community in Los Angeles Expresses its Unwavering Loyalty to the Glorious Alaouite Throne and to the Moroccan Model of Coexistence
The Moroccan Jewish community in Los Angeles expressed its unwavering attachment to the Glorious Alaouite Throne and to the unique Moroccan model of coexistence and harmonious living between cultures and faiths, during the celebration this week of the Morocco Week Reception held at the Sephardic Congregation Em Habanim.

Organized as part of Morocco Day in Los Angeles, proclaimed in 2019 in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, this event brought together numerous dignitaries, religious leaders and members of the diaspora. It highlighted the noble values that have shaped Moroccan exception for centuries, namely unity, attachment to roots, preservation of collective memory and coexistence.
On this occasion, Rabbi Joshua Bittan, originally from Ouazzane, raised prayers to preserve His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to bestow blessings upon the Sovereign and the Royal Family, including His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Khadija, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid and all members of the illustrious Royal Family.
The faithful of the Sephardic congregation Em Habanim also expressed with emotion their deep attachment and gratitude to His Majesty the King for His continued efforts to preserve Morocco’s national heritage and promote an exemplary model of coexistence uniting all components of the Moroccan Nation.
Speaking at the event, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, praised the community’s strong connection to its Moroccan origins, noting that the Kingdom is not only the country of origin of community members, but also “a home, a reference point, a heritage that continues to live in hearts and in prayers”.
The diplomat highlighted the particularity of interfaith dialogue promoted by Morocco, “deeply rooted in the history of the Kingdom and constantly renewed under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful”.
In Morocco, coexistence has never been a mere slogan, he stressed, but an ancestral way of life that has enabled Jews, Christians and Muslims “to live together as brothers and sisters, sharing the same cities and villages, the same hopes and the same values” for centuries.
Mr. Amrani underlined that this heritage is today enshrined in the Moroccan Constitution, which recognizes all components of national identity, including the Hebrew one. He added that this recognition is reflected in concrete actions such as the restoration of synagogues, preservation of archives, promotion of traditions and transmission of a shared memory that reinforces national unity.
Furthermore, the ambassador stated that as part of efforts to strengthen proximity with Moroccan citizens living in California and the West Coast, Moroccan authorities are examining the establishment of a consulate in Los Angeles in order to facilitate access to consular services and strengthen support for the community.
He also announced the upcoming launch of a direct air route between Casablanca and Los Angeles, which will significantly transform connectivity between Morocco and the West Coast of the United States, while boosting human, economic, cultural and tourism exchanges.
