Paris Vibrates in the Colors of Morocco: The Moroccan Diaspora Celebrates 50 Years of the Green March
This Sunday in Paris, the streets resonated with a familiar, warm, and deeply Moroccan spirit. Hundreds of Moroccans from across the Paris region gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March, a defining moment in the nation’s history.
Red flags adorned with the green star waved proudly, carried with dignity. Voices united to sing “Nidae El Hassan” and the anthems of the March, creating a living connection between Paris and Laâyoune, Casablanca, and Dakhla. Portraits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI reminded everyone that the spirit of the Green March continues to guide the Kingdom’s destiny.
Under the slogan “50 Years… Morocco Unites Us, the Green March Brings Us Together,” the procession stretched from Place Vauban to the Champ-de-Mars, in front of the Eiffel Tower, a global symbol. It was a powerful image: Morocco proudly inscribed at the heart of Paris.
This celebration was more than a tribute to history; it was a relay, a passing of the torch. Parents shared with their children the story of the 1975 March, King Hassan II’s call, and the peaceful mobilization of a united people defending their Sahara. The message was clear: national unity does not age—it is passed on.
The festivities continued in Épinay-sur-Seine, with music, popular songs, patriotic poems, and celebratory cries, demonstrating that the Moroccan diaspora remains, despite the distance, united in heart and spirit with their homeland.
Through this gathering, the Moroccan community in France affirmed calmly yet firmly: Morocco is one and indivisible, and the flame of the Green March continues to shine, both here and at home.
