MALTA: THE POLISARIO’S CLAIMS OF “SOLE REPRESENTATIVENESS” COLLAPSE

What happened in Malta was not a minor setback. It was a global humiliation, an unprecedented diplomatic blow for the Algerian military junta and its artificial extension, the Polisario.

Algeria’s and the Polisario’s lies exposed

For half a century, Algiers imposed on the world a fabricated narrative claiming that the Polisario was “the sole and exclusive representative of the Sahrawis”. In Malta, that narrative disintegrated in real time before stunned international delegations. For the first time, free Sahrawis — those who live neither under the terror of the Tindouf camps nor under Algeria’s authoritarian rule — were present: the movement Sahrawis for Peace.

From the moment they arrived, Algeria’s entire propaganda machine collapsed like a soaked house of cards.

A silenced Polisario, humiliated by its own people

While its leader met face-to-face with Pedro Sánchez, the Polisario spent the summit dodging debate, avoiding questions, steering clear of their own Sahrawi brothers, and hiding in the corridors like a discredited sect.

Algeria’s generals may have sent their puppets to Malta, but no one listened to them. No one respected them. No one believed their story.

The brutal end of the “sole legitimate representative” myth

The scene was striking. Two Sahrawi delegations. Two speeches. Two visions. And one of them — the Polisario — appeared as an impostor, supported only by a paranoid military regime unable to provide for its own people. The other — Sahrawis for Peace — embodied legitimacy, clarity, modernity, and the true Sahrawi voice.

In Algiers, the generals must have choked seeing the images. For decades they believed they could manipulate the international community, buying influence with petrodollars. In Malta, they received a geopolitical slap from which they will not recover. The entire world saw what Morocco has always said: the Polisario is nothing more than a political blackmail tool used by a regime in decline.

The Polisario did not even have the courage to speak with its own people. Why? Because they know their narrative collapses within minutes when faced with reality: they do not represent the Sahrawis, they control no territory, they offer no solution, they survive on the handouts of the military junta, they live on lies and fear — and in Malta, they fled like ghosts.

A total defeat: political, moral and historical

This summit marks the clinical death of Algeria’s narrative. No one — absolutely no one — still believes in the Polisario’s legitimacy, its fabricated storyline, or its role invented by Algerian intelligence services. Algeria has lost. The Polisario has lost. And the world has seen it.

Meanwhile, Morocco moves forward

While the Algerian regime sinks deeper into moral, social, economic and diplomatic failure, Morocco continues to strengthen its alliances, its stability, its international legitimacy, and its autonomy initiative supported by major global powers.
