Morocco, a Key Actor in Strengthening International Initiatives for Peace and Development (OIC)
Morocco plays a key role in strengthening international and regional initiatives aimed at establishing peace, security and development, underlined on Tuesday in Marrakech the Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Youssef Al-Dubaï.

Speaking at the opening session of the Afro Arab Islamic Dialogue on Democracy, Peace and Security, organized as part of the event Marrakech, Capital of Youth of the Islamic World 2025, Mr. Al-Dubaï highlighted the constant importance given by the Kingdom to dialogue between states, peoples, civilizations and cultures.
He praised in this regard Morocco’s continuous support for the efforts of the OIC in various fields, contributing to strengthening joint Islamic action and promoting solidarity among member states.
Al-Dubaï noted that this meeting is taking place in a particularly complex international and regional context, marked by growing challenges and rapid transformations with direct repercussions on peace, security and development, expressing strong concern regarding the increasing tendency to draw young people into conflict, violence and extremism.
He also stressed that young people, carriers of creative energy, renewed visions and strong potential for positive transformation, represent the cornerstone of any strategy aimed at strengthening peace, security and stability.
Al-Dubaï also called for strengthening prevention and awareness mechanisms, protecting young people through education, ensuring dignified socio-economic opportunities, developing responsible media and cultural discourse that promotes the values of dialogue and moderation, as well as deepening regional and international cooperation and advancing policies for the protection and participation of young people in efforts for peace and sustainable development.
For his part, the representative of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, Mohamed Mahdi, insisted on the decisive role of young people in consolidating peace and stability, calling for their inclusion in decision making processes and for providing them with the necessary mechanisms to transform their voices into effective proposals.
He stressed that this dialogue, which serves as an interactive platform allowing young people to exchange experiences and propose innovative solutions for peace, comes at a time when many Islamic countries face major challenges that make young people particularly vulnerable and exposed to instability.
For his part, the director of the activities of Marrakech, Capital of Youth of the Islamic World 2025, Mohamed Ouziane, noted that the themes of the dialogue, democracy, peace and security, generate strong interest among young people, who seek to understand the links between these dimensions and their contribution to development and collective well-being.
He added that this dialogue is in line with Morocco’s global vision for South South cooperation, particularly through the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which opens strategic prospects for the economic integration of Sahel countries.
Ouziane also highlighted major Royal initiatives in the religious and humanitarian fields, including the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates, as well as vocational training programs for young Africans, which have become a regional reference in promoting the values of moderation and strengthening the capacities and participation of youth in peace and development efforts.
For his part, the representative of the League of Arab States, Badr Souilah, affirmed that this forum constitutes a space for reflection on the major issues facing the countries of the region, in order to preserve stability, consolidate security and build a democracy aligned with the cultural and identity specificities of the Arab and Islamic world.
He considered that holding the forum at this precise moment “reflects a deep awareness of the need for a new discourse on peace, stability and democracy, based on a clear vision, enriched by the lessons of the past, aligned with the realities of the present and oriented toward the future, without distancing itself from the needs, rights and aspirations of the Arab and Islamic peoples”.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this dialogue, held over three days, aims to strengthen the participation of young people in democratic decision making processes, to consolidate peace and security, and to deepen cooperation among Islamic, Arab and African countries in the fields of peace and sustainable development.
Organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (communication department), in partnership with the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum and the League of Arab States, this meeting serves as a practical and scientific platform dedicated to collective reflection for inclusive democracy, lasting peace and development based on equity, dignity and stability.
The program includes three thematic sessions focusing on “Youth and participation in the decision making process for the promotion of security, democracy and stability”, “The role of youth in preventing extremism and promoting a culture of peace” and “Youth partnerships and alliances for lasting peace”.
