Brazil Foils Cocaine Trafficking Attempt Bound for Morocco
Brazilian authorities have thwarted a major international drug trafficking operation involving a shipment bound for the port of Tanger Med in Morocco. Brazilian customs services intercepted 240 kilograms of cocaine hidden within a consignment of soybean oil at the port of Santos, on the coast of the state of São Paulo, according to local media reports.

The drugs were carefully concealed inside a commercial shipment of more than 20 tonnes of soybean oil, officially destined for Morocco before a final transfer to Portugal. The concealment attempt was uncovered during routine inspections carried out by Brazilian customs officers, with the support of sniffer dogs and advanced scanning equipment.
Following the discovery of the illicit cargo, the customs administration at the port of Santos immediately alerted the Brazilian Federal Police, which opened an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. The inquiry aims to identify the entire network involved, from the origin of the shipment to its final recipients, and to apprehend those responsible for this criminal operation.
This seizure once again highlights the importance of international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, as well as the heightened vigilance of port authorities in the face of attempts to exploit legal commercial channels for the transport of illicit substances.
