Moroccan Coach Lamia Boumehdi Takes Charge of Jordan’s Women’s National Team

Moroccan coach Lamia Boumehdi has been appointed as the new head coach of the Jordan women’s national team, a decision officially announced Saturday by the Jordan Football Association.

In a statement, the governing body of Jordanian football indicated that the Moroccan coach will also serve as assistant technical director in charge of women’s football. In this role, she will contribute to the overall development of the discipline and oversee all of the country’s women’s national teams.

The Jordan Football Association highlighted Boumehdi’s extensive experience in both coaching and technical management. Between 2022 and 2025, she led the women’s team of TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo while also taking charge of the Congolese women’s national team during 2025. She was also responsible for the club’s football academy, where she played an active role in developing young talent.

Before this African experience, Boumehdi worked within the National Technical Directorate of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation between 2016 and 2022. During that period, she played an important role in establishing training programs aimed at strengthening the skills of women coaches in Morocco and promoting the development of women’s football.

Her career also includes managing several youth national teams as well as a stint at the helm of Morocco’s women’s national team in 2020.

Holder of several diplomas recognized by the Confederation of African Football, including the prestigious CAF A license, Lamia Boumehdi is also an accredited trainer and lecturer with the continental body.

Her record includes several major distinctions, notably winning the CAF Women’s Champions League with TP Mazembe in 2024. She was also named Best Women’s Football Coach in Africa in 2024 and 2025 and was ranked among the continent’s top three coaches in 2025. Her appointment in Jordan thus opens a promising new chapter in the career of this prominent figure in African women’s football.
