Morocco’s Anti-Corruption Authority, IACA Ink MoU in Doha
Doha - Morocco's National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and Anti-Corruption (INPPLC) and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday in Doha, on the sidelines of the 11th Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, held in Doha.
TInked by INPPLC President Mohamed Benalilou and IACA Acting Dean Drago Kos, this MoU establishes a general framework for institutional cooperation between the two parties, based on the exchange of experiences and the development of joint programs in the areas of corruption prevention, capacity building, training, scientific research, and the promotion of integrity, in accordance with international standards in this field, including the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
According to the Authority, this memorandum stems from a shared awareness of the major threats of corruption to stability, the safety of societies, the strength of democratic institutions, ethical values, and the rule of law, in addition to its direct impact on sustainable development, economic and social prosperity, and the full enjoyment of human rights.
This arrangement also underscores the firm conviction of both parties that the fight against corruption cannot be a sectoral or institutional isolated act, but rather a global societal issue requiring the involvement of all actors, including public institutions, the private sector, civil society, and individuals.
The areas of cooperation agreed upon include the launch and support of joint projects, the organization of periodic meetings to evaluate programs and activities and identify future priorities, the exchange of information of mutual interest, and collaboration to develop capacity-building and institution-building programs.
It also involves establishing bilateral cooperation in the areas of training, education, and scientific research, organizing specialized seminars and conferences, and providing technical assistance.
The Authority also recalled that the signing of this memorandum illustrates the willingness of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to actively contribute to collective efforts aimed at building more effective integrity systems by reinforcing its presence within specialized international networks and institutions.
The memorandum was signed in the presence of Ambassador, permanent representative of the Kingdom in Vienna Azzeddine Farhane, as well as several officials from the Authority and members of the Moroccan delegation participating in the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption.
