Trump rules out any deal with Iran without “unconditional surrender”

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that any prospect of an agreement with Iran would depend on what he described as the country’s “unconditional surrender,” insisting that the United States would not consider any alternative.

“There will be no deal with Iran, except an UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social. He added that once this stage is reached and after the appointment of one or more leaders whom he described as “great and acceptable,” Washington and its allies would work to rebuild the country.

According to the American president, the United States, in coordination with its partners, would work “tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better and stronger than ever.”

“IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!)” he wrote, echoing his well-known slogan “Make America Great Again.”

On Thursday, President Trump also said that he “must be involved” in the choice of a successor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, stressing that he would not accept the possibility of his son Mojtaba Khamenei taking over.

“I have to be involved in the choice, like with Delcy (Rodriguez),” referring to the current leader of Venezuela, the president said in an interview with the American news website Axios.

“The son of Khamenei is not acceptable to me. We want someone who brings peace and harmony to Iran,” he added.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, who had led the country since 1989, was killed in a strike at the beginning of the Israeli-American offensive that started the current conflict.
