Meeting Between Nasser Bourita and Musalia Mudavadi: Kenya Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan and Hails the Kingdom’s Progress
On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, held talks this Wednesday with Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya.

During the meeting, Mr. Mudavadi stressed that Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative represents a credible and realistic path toward achieving a political solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara. “This initiative deserves careful consideration, as it offers promising prospects for moving forward,” he declared.
The Kenyan official recalled his official visit to Morocco in May 2025, marked by the inauguration of Kenya’s Embassy in Rabat alongside Mr. Bourita, and the signing of a joint communiqué in which Nairobi recognized the autonomy plan as the only sustainable approach to resolving the Sahara issue. He also praised the growing international consensus and the momentum driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of this initiative.
Beyond the Sahara question, Mr. Mudavadi highlighted Morocco’s progress in several strategic sectors, citing in particular the Tanger Med Port, railway infrastructure, tourism development, and the Kingdom’s pivotal role in fertilizer production, which is a key factor for food security in Africa.
The Kenyan Prime Minister also expressed his country’s determination to further strengthen economic ties with Morocco, notably through enhanced trade exchanges and the prospect of resuming direct flights between Casablanca and Nairobi.
This meeting underscored the strength of the Morocco-Kenya partnership and the convergence of the two countries’ visions in favor of a stable, integrated, and prosperous Africa.
