Israel and the United States Strike Iran: Major Military Escalation in the Middle East
The United States and Israel carried out a series of airstrikes on several sites in Iran on Saturday morning, February 28, marking a new major escalation in tensions in the Middle East. Explosions were reported in several major Iranian cities, notably Tehran, Isfahan, and Tabriz, where multiple facilities were targeted.

According to Israeli authorities, the military operation was presented as a preventive strike aimed at neutralizing threats attributed to the Iranian regime. Israel’s Ministry of Defense stated that the objective was to eliminate capabilities considered dangerous to the security of the State of Israel. At the same time, warning sirens sounded in several regions of Israel, with authorities urging the population to move closer to shelters.
On the American side, President Donald Trump confirmed the launch of a large-scale military operation alongside Israel. He stated that the intervention aimed to counter what Washington considers imminent threats from the Iranian regime, particularly regarding missile and ballistic capabilities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also justified the offensive, citing the need to neutralize what he described as an existential threat posed by Iran, which Israel accuses of pursuing dangerous nuclear ambitions.
Alongside the strikes carried out in Iran, the Israeli army also targeted positions of the Shiite movement Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, an ally of Tehran in the region.
These bombings come after several weeks of tense negotiations between Washington and Tehran that failed to produce an agreement. The new offensive has raised fears of a regional expansion of the conflict, as several countries in the Middle East have also reported explosions or alerts in their airspace.
The situation remains extremely volatile, and international reactions are expected in the coming hours, as the international community fears a military escalation with potentially major consequences for regional stability.
