Morocco Arrests ‘Daesh’ Loyalist in Final Stages of Executing Imminent, High-Risk Terrorist Plot

Rabat - Police services in Tetouan arrested, on Wednesday, on the basis of actionable intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a 26 year old “Daesh” loyalist in the final stages of executing an imminent and highly dangerous terrorist plot aiming to seriously undermine public order.

The security operation allowed the seizure of a large bladed weapon in the suspect’s possession, which he intended to use in the execution of his terrorist plans, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) said in a statement, adding that the concerned individual drew attention by disseminating, through media platforms, content relating to terrorist operations carried out by the “Daesh” organization.

Police searches conducted in connection with this case also led to the seizure of a flag of this terrorist organization from the suspect’s residence, the same source indicated.

The suspect was brought before the BCIJ and placed in custody to further the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of terrorism cases, with the aim of identifying all terrorist plots attributed to him and determining any potential connections both within Morocco and abroad, which once again highlights the resurgence of terrorist threats targeting the Kingdom.
