Morocco–United States: A Historic Naval Alliance Celebrated on the Occasion of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence

The navies of Morocco and the United States marked a highly symbolic moment by celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence, recalling an exceptional friendship that stands among the oldest diplomatic and military relationships in the world. This commemoration highlights the depth of a partnership built on trust, mutual respect and continuous cooperation in the service of international maritime security.

In Norfolk, a stronghold of American naval power, the Royal Moroccan Navy distinguished itself by actively taking part in the preparatory work for the International Fleet Review and the naval exercises scheduled for this historic anniversary. Alongside four African navies, Morocco contributed to a collective dynamic focused on interoperability, the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of regional maritime capabilities.

The prominent presence of the frigate MOHAMMED V, leading the formation, embodied the professionalism and modernity of the Royal Moroccan Navy, while underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to peace, stability and South–North cooperation.

Beyond the event itself, this celebration reaffirms the strength of the Moroccan–American strategic partnership, which is rooted in the long term and continues to evolve in response to contemporary challenges, for the benefit of maritime security and the international order.
