Raja CA President Outlines Club’s Shift to a Corporate Model at Rabat Forum
Speaking at a forum held in Rabat, Raja Club Athletic president Jawad Ziyat used the occasion to lay out the club’s ongoing transformation, describing a strategic shift that is redefining how one of Morocco’s most iconic teams is run.
Addressing MWN on the sidelines of the seminar, Ziyat explained that Raja has completed a major structural change, moving away from its historical associative framework toward a corporate governance model. “Raja has moved from the traditional association format to a limited company,” he said, noting that the aim is “to have more financial means, but also to manage the club as a company and not as an association.”
According to Ziyat, this transition is not simply administrative. It is part of a broader, long term plan designed to place Raja among Africa’s elite on a permanent basis. The club, he said, now operates under a business plan whose ambition is to “build one of the best three clubs in Africa” and to stay “on the podium in a sustainable way,” rather than chasing short lived success.
During his intervention at the forum, Ziyat expanded on that vision, highlighting the depth of the work that has gone into the new structure. “I was glad today to attend this seminar. It was an opportunity to describe the new model of Raja Club Athletic Casablanca. Raja is now a limited company. We have moved from the traditional association format to a limited company. The objective with this move is to have more financial means but also to manage the club as a company and not as an association. We have a business plan. The objective is not to win once and disappear, but it is to be consistently on top of the African clubs in terms of ranking,” he told the audience.
He went on to underline the scale of the project behind Raja S.A., the newly created corporate entity that now governs the club. “So I explained to the audience all the steps that have been managed by Raja in order to have today Raja SA, société anonyme, the biggest limited company in Morocco with a capital of 250 million dirhams. Thank you very much,” Ziyat added.
By placing governance, financial strength, and long term planning at the center of its strategy, Raja is aiming to build a model capable of delivering both sporting success and institutional stability, a combination the club believes is essential to remain competitive on the African stage.
