Tourism: ONMT in Action During AFCON 2025

On the occasion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is hosting travel influencers, tour operators, professional federations, and international journalists to discover “Morocco, Land of Football”, a modern and dynamic Morocco fully capable of hosting major international sporting events.

“Morocco is vibrating to the rhythm of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Ultra modern stadiums, world class hotels, efficient airports, and outstanding cultural and natural destinations… The Kingdom is deploying all its assets to welcome official delegations, teams, and fans from around the world in the best possible conditions. ONMT is taking advantage of this unique opportunity to invite key players in international tourism: travel influencers, professional federations, tour operators, and leading journalists from the United States, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, and Belgium,” the Office said in a statement.

On the program are access to matches to experience the electric atmosphere of the stadiums, observe the excellence of the infrastructure, and appreciate the richness of the tourist experiences offered by the country, the same source said.

These targeted countries represent strategic markets for Morocco as a tourist destination. With strong tourism development potential, they are essential for attracting high spending visitors and strengthening the Kingdom’s international visibility. The direct engagement of travel influencers and journalists on the ground makes it possible to turn this experience into powerful channels of influence within the global tourism community.

AFCON thus becomes a living showcase for Morocco, where sport, culture, tourism, and infrastructure come together to present a country in full momentum, modern, and ready to welcome the world.

This initiative complements the extensive program deployed by ONMT for AFCON, which includes roadshows in Africa and Europe, the boosting of airline offerings, in particular by encouraging the addition of extra flights for AFCON 2025, and a signature film titled “Morocco, Land of Football”, broadcast simultaneously in twelve countries and in Morocco.

On the ground, fan zones have been set up in several cities, Essaouira, El Jadida, Oujda, Beni Mellal, and Laayoune, during the competition to create a popular and unifying atmosphere to experience the tournament across the country.

The statement also recalled that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and ONMT signed, in April 2025, a strategic agreement to position the Kingdom as a major player in the world of football and tourism by 2030.

Through this initiative, ONMT, in coordination with FRMF, reaffirms football’s role as a true driver of attractiveness, a national bond, and a major factor in the Kingdom’s international influence.
