Eid Al-Adha: Royal Pardon for 1,526 People

Rabat - His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has kindly granted His Pardon, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, to 1,526 people sentenced by various Moroccan courts, some of whom are in custody and others at large, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.

Here follows the full statement : 

“On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha of this year 1446 AH – 2025 AD, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, has kindly granted His Pardon to several individuals convicted by various courts of the Kingdom. The total number of beneficiaries of this Royal Pardon is 1,511 individuals, as follows:

* The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 1,305 and are divided into:

– 72 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms;

– 1,229 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced;

– 04 inmates who had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.

* The free beneficiaries of the pardon are 206 and are divided into:

– 71 people who benefited from pardon over their prison sentences or remaining prison terms.

– 06 people who benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained.

– 115 people had their fines annulled.

– 12 individuals had both their imprisonment terms and fines annulled.

– 02 individuals had their fine and remaining prison term annulled.

On this blessed occasion, His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, has graciously granted His Pardon to a number of detainees convicted in cases related to extremism and terrorism, who were granted the Royal Approval after having officially expressed their commitment to the Nation’s immutable values and sacred principles, as well as its national institutions, and after having revised their ideological views and rejected extremism and terrorism. These beneficiaries number 15 individuals, divided as follows:

– Full pardon of the remaining prison term and fine for 5 detainees.

– Reduction of the prison sentence for 10 detainees.

May God protect His Majesty the King, source of compassion and mercy, perpetuate His glory, and preserve His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and all members of the Royal Family.”
