Settat Police Prefecture Denies Allegations of Attempted Kidnapping of a Girl in Berrechid
The police prefecture of Settat has categorically denied the accuracy of comments accompanying a video circulated on social media on Wednesday, which claimed that a young girl had been the target of an attempted kidnapping by a woman in the city of Berrechid.

In a clarification issued to inform public opinion and refute these unfounded allegations, the police prefecture stated that the judicial police services under the Provincial Security District of Berrechid opened a judicial investigation into the matter after it was established that the National Security services had received no complaint or report regarding these alleged events through the emergency number “19”.
Investigations conducted in this case made it possible to identify all individuals appearing in the video, as well as the minor who posted it on social media. The inquiry concluded that the events shown in the video did not constitute any criminal act. Authorities also indicated that the woman concerned lives in Berrechid and has been suffering from a mental illness for more than 15 years.
The minor who published the video has been placed under supervision, while the two women who filmed and edited the footage have been taken into custody and placed at the disposal of the investigation, which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, in order to clarify the circumstances of the case and determine its details.
While firmly rejecting the accuracy of the information contained in the video, the Settat police prefecture reaffirmed its serious and proactive engagement with any matter that could affect citizens’ sense of security.
