Talks in Doha Between Ms. Seghrouchni and the Qatari Minister of Communications and Information Technology
The Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, held talks on Sunday in Doha with the Qatari Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohammed Bin Ali Al Mannai. The discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI).
This meeting, held in the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador to Qatar, Mohammed Setri, provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on the progress achieved by the two countries in digital transformation and the adoption of AI technologies. They also reviewed the main national programs in this area and the strategic foundations underpinning this momentum in both countries.
The talks, which took place on the sidelines of the third edition of Web Summit Qatar 2026, scheduled from February 1 to 4, also addressed the integration of AI in the development of e-government services and the improvement of the quality of public services, as well as the exchange of expertise and best practices between the relevant administrations and institutions.
Both parties also examined opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy and in boosting innovation ecosystems, with a view to supporting digital transformation and strengthening sustainable development in both countries.
In addition, the two ministers explored prospects for technical cooperation in several areas, notably the development of artificial intelligence language models adapted to national languages and cultural specificities, the strengthening of cloud infrastructures and technological platforms, the promotion of interoperability and data exchange frameworks, as well as the development of digital identity systems and reliable verification mechanisms.
The two sides also discussed accelerating the modernization of public services through advanced digital solutions, expressing their shared ambition to establish cooperation programs with tangible impact, focused on results, in the service of digital sovereignty, improved public action performance and enhanced economic competitiveness in both countries.
The two officials further addressed the regional dimension of this cooperation. In this context, Ms. Seghrouchni noted that Morocco hosts the “Hub Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development”, whose establishment was endorsed last September in New York in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, as an open space for Arab-African regional cooperation.
With regard to the Moroccan experience, the minister highlighted the strong momentum witnessed by the Kingdom in the field of artificial intelligence, which gained qualitative impetus with the organization of the “AI Made in Morocco” day on January 12 in Rabat, a landmark event in structuring the national ecosystem.
This initiative materialized through the launch of the National Network of “Jazari” Institutes, as a major lever for applied research, innovation, skills development, support for technology companies and encouragement of the adoption of digital solutions by very small, small and medium-sized enterprises, she stressed.
This meeting falls within the framework of Ms. Seghrouchni’s participation in the proceedings of Web Summit Qatar 2026, alongside numerous international decision-makers and experts, illustrating Morocco’s continued openness to international technological partnerships and its engagement in global debates on the future of the digital economy.
