The United States Reaffirms Its Unwavering Support for Moroccan Sovereignty over the Sahara
On the sidelines of international discussions on the Moroccan Sahara issue, the United States has once again reaffirmed its clear and consistent position in favor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for African Affairs, Mr. Mossad Boulos, stressed following his meeting on Thursday, September 25, with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, that “genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty remains the only solution capable of ensuring a just, lasting and mutually acceptable outcome.”
This firm and unequivocal stance is in line with the strategic decisions taken by Washington, notably the official recognition, in December 2020, of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. It once again underscores the strength of the Morocco-U.S. strategic partnership, which is guided by a shared vision for peace, stability and regional prosperity.
Beyond political support, this convergence reflects the trust the United States places in Morocco’s central role, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in consolidating security and development in Africa and across the Arab world.
