Morocco Sets Its Sights on the Arab Title in Qatar: An Ambitious Squad Ready for Victory
Morocco heads to Qatar from December 1 to 18 with one clear ambition: to secure the second Arab title in its history and reaffirm the remarkable momentum of Moroccan football at continental, regional and international levels.

A status as favorites fully embraced
Predictions place Morocco A’ among the top contenders for the title. This comes as no surprise, given that the squad includes several players who were recently crowned champions at CHAN 2024, held jointly in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Added to this are confirmed talents competing in Arab leagues and capable of making a difference at the highest level.
Among the standout names are Amin Zouhzouh, 25 (Al-Wakrah – Qatar), Youssef M’hiri, 26 (RS Berkane) and Anas Bach, 27 (AS FAR). These players shine both with their clubs and the national team, providing speed, creativity and fresh energy to Morocco’s playing system.
Experienced leaders supporting the younger generation
This talented squad is complemented by a more experienced group with significant backgrounds in European and Arab leagues: Abderrazak Hamdallah, 34 (Al-Shabab – Saudi Arabia), Tarik Tissoudali, 32 (Khor Fakkan – United Arab Emirates) and Achraf Bencharki, 29 (Al-Ahly – Egypt). This trio, well-acquainted with major competitions, will be key in bringing leadership, efficiency and composure during decisive moments.
An ambitious coach: Tarik Sektioui, a man of titles
The Moroccan team is led by Tarik Sektioui, a coach whose reputation continues to grow: Winner of the 2020 CAF Confederation Cup with RS Berkane, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics and African Nations Championship winner in 2024. Sektioui approaches the tournament with clear determination. During the press conference unveiling the final squad, he stated:
« Notre objectif immédiat est de sortir des poules. Ensuite, nous aborderons chaque match comme une finale. Nous voulons honorer le Maroc et aller chercher le titre. »
A strong message addressed to both the players and their opponents.
A challenging yet exciting competition
The coach acknowledges that the task will not be easy. Several competing teams have played in the World Cup, raising the level significantly. However, the Atlas Lions rely on discipline, talent and strong character to meet the challenge.
Massive support expected in Doha
Just as in 2021 and during the 2022 World Cup, Morocco is expected to benefit from immense support from fans traveling from Morocco, along with the large Moroccan community living in Qatar. This unwavering passion has often carried the team forward and will likely play a decisive role again.
A platform for players and a showcase for clubs
Hosted in Qatar for the second time, this edition represents a key opportunity for players to move closer to the senior national team, attract attention from major clubs and showcase their potential in a high-visibility competition.
A demanding start in Group B
The draw has placed Morocco in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman and Comoros. The top two teams will qualify for the quarterfinals. The final will be played at the iconic Lusail Stadium on December 18. The objective is clear: write a new chapter in Moroccan football history.
The Atlas Lions A’ are ready. And so is Morocco.
