Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurates Mohammed VI Tower, one of Africa’s tallest skyscrapers

Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated on Monday, on the right bank of the Bouregreg River, the Mohammed VI Tower, one of the tallest towers in Africa and a new architectural icon symbolizing the influence of the twin cities of Rabat and Salé.
On this occasion, the Crown Prince visited several areas of the landmark structure, notably the main hall where presentations were made on the project, along with examples of traditional Moroccan materials used in its construction. He also toured the conference area, the library, a model apartment, as well as the luxury Waldorf Astoria hotel.
At the top of the tower, he discovered the Rabat and Salé heritage observatory, offering an exceptional panoramic view over the two cities and highlighting their rich historical legacy through their ramparts, kasbahs and ancient gates.
Rising to 250 meters across 55 floors, the Mohammed VI Tower, now the tallest building in Rabat, combines cutting-edge architecture, modern design and compliance with the strictest environmental standards.
The project forms part of the development of the Bouregreg Valley, a key component of the “Rabat, City of Light, Cultural Capital of Morocco” program launched by Mohammed VI.
Built by O Capital Group, the tower includes a luxury hotel, offices, residences, an observatory, a conference center, as well as retail and dining spaces, served by 36 elevators. It stands on foundations reaching 60 meters deep, designed to withstand earthquakes and flooding.
Equipped with an innovative vibration-damping system to counter wind movement and seismic shocks, the tower ensures comfort and stability for occupants on the upper floors.
The building also incorporates advanced energy-efficiency technologies, including façades fitted with dynamic lighting and photovoltaic panels. It also features energy recovery systems and rainwater collection systems.
These features have enabled it to obtain the international “LEED Gold” and “HQE” certifications, making the Mohammed VI Tower one of the most innovative and high-performing projects on the African continent.
