Inauguration in Rome of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI)

The Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI) was inaugurated on Wednesday in Rome, with the aim of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, promoting investment and creating sustainable opportunities between businesses in both countries.

A double inauguration ceremony of the first Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in the Italian peninsula took place at the headquarters of the new institution, then at the Senate of the Italian Republic, in the presence of several Moroccan and Italian figures from political, economic and cultural spheres, as well as representatives from regions across Italy.

Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy, Marouan El Mansoub, stated that the new institution represents “a strategic bridge” between companies and business leaders from both nations, focused on boosting bilateral trade and economic exchanges.

While commending the development momentum Morocco is experiencing under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the President of the CCMI noted that Italian companies are showing a growing interest in expanding their activities in Morocco.

“In light of Italy’s increasing interest in a strategic partnership with Morocco, particularly in the sectors of energy, logistics and green technologies, we are determined to mobilize all efforts to facilitate access for Italian enterprises to the Moroccan market,” he stressed.

The creation of the chamber marks a significant milestone in strengthening economic and commercial ties between Morocco and Italy, with the objective of establishing a long-term cooperative framework that multiplies investment platforms, joint ventures and bilateral trade missions, Mr. Mansoub added.

For his part, Italian Senator Bartolomeo Amidei, member of the Industry, Agriculture, Tourism, Trade and Handicraft Commission, expressed satisfaction with the creation of the new Chamber of Commerce which further consolidates cooperation between the two countries.

“Today, we inaugurated this process at the Senate, and this is only the beginning of a promising collaboration between both parties,” he said.

The Italian senator also highlighted the partnership agreement for research and innovation in the Mediterranean region, known as “PRIMA”, as a key driver to further develop Moroccan-Italian cooperation.

Paolo Spataro, Secretary General of CCMI, also welcomed the creation of this economic structure which will facilitate exchanges, expand trade opportunities and encourage investment across both shores of the Mediterranean.

After highlighting the excellence of the historic relations between Morocco and Italy, he expressed the wish to place the new Chamber at the service of Italian companies seeking access to the Moroccan market and exploring “this magnificent country, which undoubtedly represents a highly promising prospect for our businesses.”

Mohamed Choukri Belkadi, Secretary General of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) Fès-Meknès, shared the same perspective, stating that the opening of the Moroccan-Italian Chamber of Commerce in Rome will undoubtedly intensify trade between the two nations.

While Italy is known for its technology and expertise across numerous specialized industries, Morocco offers, thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a favorable business climate and world-class infrastructure for major investment opportunities, particularly in logistics, he stressed, citing the major strategic ports of Tanger Med, Nador and Dakhla.

According to Mr. Belkadi, the new institution will create investment opportunities for Italian businesses in Morocco, notably in connection with the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal, while also providing a gateway to the African continent, among other advantages.

The inauguration of this first Chamber of Commerce in the Italian capital will be followed by the opening of additional branch offices in several Italian regions.
