Winners of 2nd Mohammed VI Foundation Competition for African Ulema of Hadith Nabawi Asharif Honored in Nouakchott

Nouakchott - A ceremony was held on Monday evening in Nouakchott to honor the winners of the 2nd Mohammed VI Foundation Competition for African Ulema of the Hadith Nabawi Asharif, which attracted 413 candidates.

The ceremony was attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to Nouakchott Hamid Chabar, Secretary General of the Mauritanian Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education Baitallah Ould Ahmed Lessouad, as well as Head of the Foundation’s Mauritanian branch Sheikh Bouna Oumar Ly.

On this occasion, the top three winners in each category of the competition were awarded prizes.

The candidates competed in three categories: memorization of 40 hadiths (Prophet’s collected traditions), their chain of transmission and their text; recital of 35 hadiths, mention of the transmitter and understanding of the meaning of the words; and finally, memorization of 25 hadiths relating to court decisions and explanation of their jurisprudential merits.

Winners in the three categories will represent Mauritania in the continental qualifying rounds, where candidates from 48 countries will take part, competing for the Grand Prize of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema.
