Dakar - The 14th ordinary session of the General Assembly of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) opened on Monday in Dakar, with Morocco's participation.

Led by the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, the Moroccan delegation includes the Director-General of Hydraulic Engineering at the Ministry, Abdelaziz Zerouali, and the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Dakar, Hassan Naciri.
Held under the rotating presidency of Senegal (2025-2027), this continental meeting brings together African ministers and water experts to address major challenges related to water resource governance.
The discussions focus on adapting legal and institutional frameworks, strengthening capacity for monitoring and sharing reliable data, and developing innovative financing mechanisms to ensure universal access to drinking water and sanitation.
Organizers emphasize that this General Assembly aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the aim of accelerating the continent’s socio-economic transformation and enhancing resilience against climate change, demographic pressures, and rapid urbanization.
