Morocco–United States: 250 years of history celebrated under the banner of a lasting and strategic friendship

The United States Embassy in Morocco marked, with strong symbolism and prominence, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, on the occasion of the official launch of the commemorative summit dedicated to this historic milestone. The celebration went beyond protocol, highlighting the strength and modern relevance of the Moroccan-American partnership, one of the oldest and most enduring relationships in the history of US diplomacy.

The opening ceremony, marked by addresses from Chargé d’Affaires Benjamin Ziff and Moustapha Messoudi, Secretary General in charge of Youth, reflected a convergence of values centered on education, innovation, and investment in human capital. Both officials praised the central role played by American educational exchange programmes, described as genuine bridges between the two nations.

The figures speak for themselves: more than 10,000 Moroccans have benefited from American exchange programmes and have since become key contributors to the Kingdom’s economic, social, and institutional development. Entrepreneurs, educators, senior civil servants, and community leaders, these women and men embody the success of a cooperation built on knowledge sharing, cultural openness, and mutual trust.

Through this celebration, the United States Embassy reaffirmed a strong conviction: the future of Moroccan-American relations is being shaped through youth, education, and innovation. This vision is shared with the Kingdom of Morocco, which places people at the heart of its public policies and strategic partnerships.

By celebrating 250 years of American history on Moroccan soil, more than two and a half centuries of lasting friendship between Rabat and Washington are also brought into the spotlight. A relationship focused on the future, carried forward by committed generations, and set to grow stronger in the service of stability, progress, and dialogue between peoples.
