Morocco Takes Part in General Inaugural Conference of Asian‑African Parliamentary Council in Beirut

Rabat - Morocco is taking part in the General Inaugural Conference of the Asian‑African Parliamentary Council which convenes in Beirut on September 8–9.

The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Sabbari, represents the Moroccan Parliament at the proceedings of this Parliamentary Council, organized in cooperation with the International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions.

The Asian‑African Parliamentary Council constitutes a substantive addition to international parliamentary organizations, grounded in the geopolitical realities of Asia and Africa and designed to broaden avenues of cooperation.

Its establishment benefits from the support of the International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions, thus embodying complementarity between parliamentary and trade‑union expertise.

Morocco’s participation in this Conference carries particular significance, as it marks the Council’s official inauguration and is expected to adopt procedural and executive arrangements, approve the Council’s Statute, affirm its legal personality, and safeguard its independence.

Delivering an address on behalf of the Moroccan Parliament, Mohamed Sabbari underscored that what unites the two continents is not only the historical depth or geographic neighborliness, but the collective sense of common destiny and a shared resolve to build the future on foundations of partnership, cooperation, and dialogue.

In the same respect, he recalled Asia’s status as a global economic powerhouse and Africa’s emergence as a land of major opportunities, endowed with abundant resources, potential, and a dynamic young generation. He concluded that each continent remains in need of the other.
