Under High Royal Instructions, the Ministry of the Interior Raises Mobilization Levels to Address the Potential Impacts of Meteorological Disturbances During the 2025–2026 Winter Season
In implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Ministry of the Interior has, in close coordination with all relevant government departments, services and institutions, raised mobilization levels in order to address the potential impacts of the meteorological disturbances expected during the 2025–2026 winter season.
In this regard, a statement from the Ministry of the Interior indicates that the Walis of the regions and the Governors of the concerned prefectures and provinces have been instructed to strengthen on-the-ground monitoring mechanisms of evolving climatic conditions, ensure rigorous coordination among the various stakeholders, and implement anticipatory and preventive measures aimed at protecting populations and mitigating potential damage, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines.
To this end, the statement adds, a command and monitoring center has been activated at the level of the Ministry of the Interior, alongside the creation and activation of provincial monitoring and follow-up committees, within the framework of the national plan dedicated to combating the effects of cold waves for the 2025–2026 winter season. This plan is distinguished by the updating of its field data, the expansion of its scope of intervention, and the diversification of its targeting mechanisms, with the aim of directing interventions more efficiently and enhancing their effectiveness for the benefit of the concerned areas.
The plan targets a wide segment of the population residing in several douars belonging to various territorial collectivities spread across 28 prefectures and provinces, with the objective of accompanying affected persons and providing them with all necessary forms of assistance and support, in order to alleviate their suffering in the face of the difficult conditions that may result from climatic disturbances. This is carried out through continuous field support, taking into account the specificities of each area and the nature of the potential risks likely to arise during this period.
In the same spirit of mobilization, the Ministry of the Interior, through its central and territorial services and with the participation of the various concerned sectors, has worked to raise the level of preparedness for intervention by ensuring permanent monitoring of the situation on the ground, continuity of supply to the concerned areas with basic necessities and heating means, as well as the mobilization of essential logistical equipment and its pre-positioning near road axes threatened with interruption, in order to lift isolation when necessary.
These measures also include, according to the statement, the organization of operations to distribute food aid, blankets and firewood to the targeted populations, immediate intervention in favor of individuals in critical or urgent situations, as well as ensuring the continuity of road and telephone connectivity. They also provide for the availability of the necessary feed to protect livestock in the affected areas.
The Ministry reaffirmed the full mobilization of all public services and authorities, in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the continuation of all necessary efforts to alleviate the suffering of populations, ensure the safety of citizens and their property, and address the challenges that may arise from climatic disturbances during this winter season.
The Ministry also called on all citizens, particularly those residing in the concerned areas, to exercise heightened vigilance, demonstrate the utmost caution, and strictly comply with the safety instructions issued by the competent authorities, while avoiding any form of risk-taking that could endanger people and property.
It also urges caution during travel and advises avoiding the use of routes and tracks threatened with interruption, in view of the severe climatic disturbances likely to occur in the coming periods, in order to reduce potential risks and ensure everyone’s safety.
