Driss Lachgar Re-elected Head of the USFP for a Fourth Term
In an atmosphere marked by solemnity and political continuity, Driss Lachgar has been re-elected as First Secretary of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) for a fourth consecutive term, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The decision was overwhelmingly supported by the majority of delegates gathered in Bouznika for the party’s 12th National Congress. Only 26 members voted against his reappointment, reflecting the renewed confidence the historic leader continues to enjoy within the socialist ranks.
The congress, which began on Friday, also saw the unanimous adoption of both the moral and financial reports, highlighting a renewed sense of unity around the political direction upheld by the outgoing leadership.
Lachgar’s re-election reaffirms the stability of his leadership at the helm of the “party of the rose” during a crucial phase for Morocco’s left, which now faces the challenge of redefining its role and influence on the national political scene.
