Marrakech-Menara Airport Named Best Regional Airport in Africa
Marrakech-Menara Airport has been crowned Best Regional Airport in Africa at the 2026 World Airport Awards, organized by Skytrax in London, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).

“The Marrakech-Menara Airport has just been named Best Regional Airport in Africa at the 2026 World Airport Awards, whose ceremony was held on March 18 in London on the sidelines of the PTE World event,” the Office said in a statement, noting that this distinction reflects the rising performance of Moroccan airports and validates the transformation undertaken as part of the Airports 2030 strategy.
This international recognition, awarded for the first time by Skytrax to Marrakech Airport, also confirms the growing satisfaction of passengers with the quality of the experience offered across Morocco’s airports, the same source added.
The award is fully aligned with the transformation momentum led by ONDA through its Airports 2030 strategy, which places passenger experience, operational efficiency, and infrastructure modernization at the core of the national airport network’s development.
The progress recorded by Marrakech-Menara in Skytrax’s global passenger satisfaction survey highlights the tangible impact of the efforts carried out by ONDA and its partners, including the Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate of National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, local authorities in Marrakech, and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
With this distinction, Marrakech-Menara strengthens its position among the top-performing airports on the continent and confirms its role as a major gateway to Morocco. The airport continues to gain recognition among international travelers, who are drawn by the quality of its services, the smooth passenger journey, and the efficiency of its operations.
Established in 1999, the World Airport Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the global airport industry. Winners are determined based on the world’s largest passenger satisfaction survey, which evaluates service quality and infrastructure across more than 565 airports worldwide. The study is based on questionnaires completed by travelers from over 100 nationalities between August 2025 and early February 2026.
