Cristiano Ronaldo Uncertain for the 2026 World Cup After More Serious Injury Than Expected

Cristiano Ronaldo’s health is raising serious concern just months before the next FIFA World Cup in 2026. The Portuguese striker could see his participation in the tournament jeopardized after the discovery of an injury more serious than initially announced.

According to information provided by the Al-Nassr staff, the 41-year-old forward is suffering from a hamstring muscle injury whose severity turned out to be greater than first estimated. Medical examinations carried out in recent days confirmed that the player will require specialized treatment and an intensive rehabilitation program.

The Saudi club’s coach, Jorge Jesus, explained that the Portuguese star will have to travel to Spain to continue his medical treatment. “After the examinations, we found that Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury was more serious than expected,” he said, adding that the player will follow a protocol similar to that used for other footballers who required specialized care abroad.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is therefore expected to undergo a rehabilitation phase in Madrid, where he will work with his personal physiotherapist in order to return to the pitch as quickly as possible.

The injury occurred during Al-Nassr’s 3–1 victory over Al-Fayha last weekend, a match in which Ronaldo left the field already raising doubts about the seriousness of his muscle problem.

In the days that followed, speculation circulated regarding the player’s situation after his private jet was spotted leaving Saudi Arabia. Images later released by the club, however, confirmed that the captain of the Portuguese national team was still with his teammates.

As the 2026 World Cup approaches, the evolution of Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury will be closely monitored, both by supporters and by the Portuguese national team staff. The absence of the global football legend from this major international event would represent a major blow for Portugal and for football fans around the world.
