Sexual frustration: Algerian journalists and supporters verge on the ridiculous, indecency and obsession as they target Petkovic’s daughter
The behaviour of Algerian journalists and supporters has reached new heights of disrespect and frustration. This time, the target was Lea, the daughter of the Algerian national team coach. She had simply come to watch the match, but found herself at the centre of a media chase worthy of a burlesque soap opera.

Driven by their collective frustration, these so called journalists did not hesitate to surround the young woman, camera and microphone in hand, under the pretext of interviewing her. A scene that would have been comical if it had not bordered on indecency.
Faced with this farce, coach Petkovic had the merit of asking the one question that silenced everyone: “In what capacity do you want to interview my daughter?” A simple moment of clarity in a theatre of the absurd.
At that point, it was hard not to laugh, bitterly. These journalists and supporters in search of buzz seemed to have forgotten that the dignity of others is not an optional accessory. Their obsession with the pointless and with voyeurism reveals not only their lack of professionalism, but also the deep frustration that prevails in certain Algerian sporting circles.
In the end, the lesson is clear: between misplaced outrage and pathetic zeal, some prefer to put on a show instead of doing journalism. And Lea was able to show what everyone should have understood long ago: she is not there to be an interview subject, but simply a spectator, and an involuntary symbol of the decline of court journalism.
