French Expert Alain Juillet: The City of Dakhla is a Model of Integrated Development and an Emerging Strategic Hub

The city of Dakhla, an emerging strategic hub, perfectly embodies the Royal Vision of balanced, inclusive, and integrated development in the Kingdom, said Alain Juillet, Honorary President of the French Academy of Economic Intelligence.

In a statement to MAP on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March, Mr. Juillet emphasized that the urban and industrial development witnessed in Dakhla “reflects the success of a strategy conducted with consistency and foresight under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.”

“When I first visited Dakhla, it was a small town by the water. Today, it has become a large modern city in full expansion. It’s truly extraordinary,” he said with admiration.

The French expert noted that the Royal Will to make Dakhla, through its future Atlantic port, a leading economic hub—particularly within the framework of the Royal Initiative to facilitate the access of Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean—“will profoundly transform the region, much like Tanger Med in northern Morocco.”

“What I see today is already impressive, but it’s nothing compared to what Dakhla will become in a few years,” he added, praising the “remarkable momentum” driven, under the leadership of the Sovereign, by the major structural projects currently underway in the Southern Provinces.

Recalling the Green March, Mr. Juillet said he had lived through this historic event, describing it as both “an act of faith and sovereignty,” adding that through this epic movement, the Kingdom reaffirmed what history had demonstrated for centuries.

According to him, the Green March remains a powerful symbol of Morocco’s national unity and reflects the enduring Royal Vision focused on stability, development, and African cooperation. “It was already evident at the time, and it remains so today,” he concluded.
