FRMF Welcomes CAF Appeal Board Decision Upholding Rules and Stability of International Competitions
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) on Wednesday welcomed the decision issued by the CAF Appeal Board regarding the Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal, noting that the ruling supports respect for the rules and the stability required for the proper conduct of international competitions.

From the very first incidents that led to the interruption of the match, the FRMF consistently maintained its position, calling for “the strict application of the regulations governing the competition,” the Federation said in a statement, adding that “the approach undertaken was never intended to challenge the sporting performance of the teams, but solely to ensure compliance with the rules.”
Following an initial decision that the FRMF had appealed, the statement added, CAF has now recognized that “the rule, known to all and applicable to all, had not been respected.”
The FRMF also stressed that it has, at all times, complied with the procedures governing disputes related to competitions, acting in accordance with the law, submitting its arguments, participating in the hearings to which it was invited, and seeking to uphold both its rights and the rules ensuring the proper organization of competitions.
According to the Federation, this decision helps clarify the framework applicable to similar situations and contributes to the coherence and credibility of international competitions, particularly in African football.
The FRMF reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to advocate for the strict and fair application of competition regulations before continental and international bodies.
It also indicated its intention to move forward calmly toward upcoming sporting events, notably the World Cup and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for this summer.
The Federation further took the opportunity to once again commend all the nations that participated in the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, describing it as a major moment for African football.
The CAF Appeal Board had ruled, in application of Article 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations, that the Senegal national team forfeited the final of AFCON Morocco 2025, with the result officially recorded as a 3-0 victory in favor of Morocco.
