Al-Qods: Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency hosts iftar for religious and national figures
Al-Qods – The Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency organized a Ramadan iftar on Friday evening in Al-Qods, attended by the director in charge of managing the Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, along with several prominent personalities from the city, Muslim and Christian religious leaders, and representatives of institutions and civil society associations.

Among those present at the iftar were member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and head of the Al-Qods Affairs Department, Adnan Al-Husseini; the Grand Mufti of Al-Qods and Palestine, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein; the president of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri; its secretary general Hatem Abdelkader; the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, Archbishop Atallah Hanna; and the secretary general of the Popular National Congress of Al-Qods, General Bilal Al-Natsheh.
“We celebrate with our brothers from Morocco, from the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. Each year, we have become accustomed to meeting them during this blessed month when they come to Al-Qods to provide assistance to those in need,” said Adnan Al-Husseini on the occasion.
He stressed that this is “a commendable tradition” that the Agency strives to maintain, welcoming the visit of the Moroccan delegation to Al-Qods at a time when the city is going through difficult circumstances.
For his part, the Grand Mufti of Al-Qods praised the Agency’s role in supporting the city’s residents in the fields of education, health and social action, particularly on the humanitarian level and in assisting underprivileged families. He noted that these efforts are reflected through various activities, both in Bedouin and rural communities and through the distribution of aid to families in need.
He expressed his gratitude for these “blessed efforts in the holy city and its surroundings, commendable assistance coming from Morocco, King, government and people,” expressing hope that this support for the residents of Al-Qods will continue.
Sheikh Ikrima Sabri also praised the efforts of the Agency, headed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Qods Committee, for the services provided to the Maqdessis during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hatem Abdelkader likewise thanked the Agency for organizing the iftar in the holy city, stating that it “has spared no effort to support Al-Qods, its residents and its institutions.” He added that the month of Ramadan is a renewed opportunity to recall the historic ties linking Moroccans with the residents of Al-Qods, with Palestine and with the Holy City.
At the end of the iftar, coupons for Ramadan food baskets were distributed to associations and institutions benefiting from the Agency’s programs.
The Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency had launched its annual social assistance campaign from the villages of Nabi Samuel and Al-Judeira, northwest of Al-Qods. This year, the campaign includes the distribution of 5,000 food baskets containing 22 basic products for underprivileged Palestinian families in Al-Qods and in villages across the governorate.
The program also includes providing food supplies to charitable kitchens and social centers to prepare around 20,000 daily iftar meals, both hot and cold, throughout the holy month. In addition, Eid Al-Fitr clothing will be distributed to 500 orphans supported by the Agency. Religious and cultural evenings, as well as training programs for local associations in marketing and human development, are also planned.
