Morocco to Take Part in 61st Session of UNHRC Scheduled from February 23 to March 31

The Moroccan delegation to this event will notably include the Interministerial Delegate for Human Rights, Mohammed El Habib Belkouch, who will deliver the Kingdom’s address during the plenary session dedicated to governmental delegations, according to a statement from the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH).

Belkouch will also chair a high-level meeting on the International Network of National Mechanisms for Implementation, Reporting and Follow-up, for which Morocco serves as coordinator. The meeting, focusing on support for the Network’s implementation plan and its future challenges, will take place on Tuesday, February 24, at the Palais des Nations.

This high-level event is organized in partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the permanent missions to the HRC of Morocco, Brazil, Portugal, and Paraguay, as well as the organization Global Rights.

The meeting will review the Network’s achievements, including the adoption of its action plan for the 2026-2030 period and the launch of its virtual platform, in addition to renewing the call for membership in order to exchange and share experiences and strengthen the role of mechanisms at the national level.

On the sidelines of this 61st session, the Interministerial Delegate will hold talks with several UN officials and international human rights figures, reflecting the DIDH’s engagement with international human rights events and its commitment to sharing Morocco’s experience in promoting these rights, the statement notes.

On the same occasion, various forms of cooperation with organizations and experts involved in international events scheduled to be held in Morocco this year will also be examined.
