Start of the 2025-2026 Vocational Training Year: Younes Sekkouri Visits the Automotive Industry Training Institute (IFMIA) Tanger Med
As part of the launch of the 2025-2026 vocational training year, Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, visited on Tuesday the Automotive Industry Training Institute (IFMIA) Tanger Med.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the institute’s mission, the training programs it offers, and its role in promoting employment and developing Moroccan skills in the automotive sector.
According to figures shared on this occasion, IFMIA-Tanger Med has delivered more than 3 million hours of training since its creation in 2011, 30% of which benefited Renault’s ecosystem.
Speaking to MAP, Mr. Sekkouri emphasized that this publicly managed institute offers high-quality training tailored to the automotive sector in general, and to Renault Group in particular. He underlined the impressive results achieved, noting: “The number of programs is steadily increasing, and the graduate insertion rate exceeds 95%, as the training directly meets the factory’s needs. All the conditions for employability are in place: an effective public-private partnership, direct involvement of industry, investment in modern equipment, and training that combines theory with practice under close supervision.”
The minister also highlighted the government’s employment strategy, which aims to increase the number of work-study trainees from 25,000 to 100,000 annually, with the goal of supporting institutes like IFMIA and broadening youth access to employment opportunities.
Nationwide, nearly 746,500 trainees are expected this year across vocational training institutions, a rentrée marked by the creation of 27 new public establishments, including three Cities of Trades and Skills in Dakhla, Marrakech, and Guelmim, along with new institutes dedicated to the crafts sector.
For his part, Mohamed Bachiri, Managing Director of Renault Group Morocco, stressed that vocational training and skills development lie at the heart of the automotive industry’s growth in Morocco. He recalled that IFMIA-Tanger Med, set up through a public-private partnership and entrusted to Renault Group under delegated management, has provided more than 3 million training hours since 2011, one-third dedicated to Renault’s ecosystem.
Mr. Bachiri noted that this training has supported not only the group’s growth but also its future projects, particularly the shift toward electrification. “The objective is to equip employees, as well as the wider automotive sector, with the skills required to meet the challenges ahead,” he said.
The minister also toured Renault’s Tangier plant, visiting the stamping, biomass, and assembly departments, where he followed the full production process through to the vehicles’ completion on the assembly line.
