Casablanca-Settat Regional Multiservices Company (SRM) Prepares for the Rainy Season
As the rainy season approaches, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Multiservices Company (SRM) is intensifying its preparations to ensure the continuity and quality of wastewater management services across the region.

A key player serving over 7 million residents, SRM Casablanca-Settat is implementing a comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance program aimed at strengthening the network’s capacity to handle heavy rainfall, the company said in a statement.
For several weeks, the technical teams of SRM Casablanca-Settat have been conducting an intensified cleaning and maintenance campaign on the network and wastewater facilities. This “strike operation” is part of the annual preventive maintenance program and mobilizes significant human and material resources in the field.
A Strengthened Regional Deployment
To anticipate heavy rainfall and prevent the risk of overflow, SRM Casablanca-Settat is deploying:
- More than 400 specialized wastewater management staff, mobilized throughout the region.
- Over 250 intervention equipment units, including 30 combined hydro-cleaners, 4 mini-hydro-cleaners, 6 suction trucks, 52 mini-cleaners, and more than 160 pumps and motor pumps.
These operations primarily target critical areas and low-lying points in the region’s various prefectures and provinces to strengthen the capacity of the stormwater drainage network.
A Monitored Wastewater Infrastructure
SRM Casablanca-Settat manages and maintains over 11,000 km of sewage networks, 242 pumping stations, 278 stormwater basins, 114 overflow channels, 27 wastewater treatment plants, and 3 pre-treatment stations.
By the end of 2025, the regional company will have inspected more than 630 km of networks and cleaned approximately 1,800 km (1,600 km preventively and nearly 200 km correctively), extracting around 18,700 tons of sediment—the equivalent of the load of more than 813 semi-trailer trucks.
A Territorial Action Plan
In close coordination with local authorities, SRM Casablanca-Settat has established a territorial action plan for the optimal management of the rainy season. This plan includes:
- Targeted hydro-cleaning campaigns.
- CCTV inspections of collectors to detect potential anomalies.
- Systematic checks of stormwater reception structures (grates, inlets, stormwater basins, overflow channels, etc.).
“Our teams are fully mobilized to enhance the performance of the wastewater network and prevent overflows. These preventive operations, conducted ahead of rainfall episodes, demonstrate our commitment to ensuring better quality services for citizens,” emphasized Kamal Gragai, Director of Wastewater Operations at SRM Casablanca-Settat.
Through this mobilization, SRM Casablanca-Settat reaffirms its role as a regional actor committed to quality of life, citizen safety, and environmental preservation. It ensures the continuity of essential public services—drinking water, electricity, wastewater management, and public lighting—while prioritizing operational excellence and field responsiveness.
The Casablanca-Settat SRM, the first Regional Multiservices Company (SRM) established nationally on October 1, 2024, is responsible for managing public services including drinking water, electricity, wastewater management, and public lighting (in certain municipalities), serving over 7 million residents of the region. It works daily to provide quality basic services and an improved living environment for citizens.
