Mauritania aims to secure its borders with Algeria through technological support from Morocco and the UAE

Amid growing tensions in the Sahel, Mauritania plans to take proactive measures to ensure the security of its northern borders against recurring infiltrations by armed militias from the Polisario Front. Through close cooperation with Morocco and its satellite surveillance technology, as well as financial support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for acquiring next-generation combat drones, Nouakchott aims to render its borders completely impervious, thereby thwarting interference and destabilizing actions that fuel regional instability.

Cutting-Edge Technology in Service of Security:
Mauritania is banking on the most advanced technologies to counter these persistent threats. With strategic intelligence provided by Moroccan surveillance satellites, the country will be able to detect any intrusion attempts in real-time. These Moroccan satellites, gems of modern technology, offer unparalleled precision in monitoring suspicious movements, enabling swift and targeted responses.

At the same time, Mauritania plans to acquire hundreds of next-generation combat drones. These drones, capable of flying long distances and neutralizing any threats at the border, represent a significant asset for the Mauritanian army. Fully financed by the UAE, these devices will provide Mauritania with unmatched technological superiority in the region.

A Strong Alliance to Counter Algerian Influence:
This military reinforcement is part of a broader strategic cooperation between Mauritania, Morocco, and the UAE. It reflects Nouakchott’s firm resolve to free itself from Algerian pressure and counter the Polisario’s activities, supported by Algeria’s military regime. Mauritanian authorities no longer hide their frustration with Algeria’s destabilization attempts through its support for these armed militias.

By relying on this new, reliable alliance and developing its military capabilities, Mauritania sends a clear message: any attempt to illegally cross its borders will be detected and neutralized without warning.

A Firm Response to Algerian Ambitions:
The lockdown of Mauritania’s borders with Algeria marks a significant setback for the Algerian regime, which loses a valuable channel of influence in the Sahelo-Saharan region. Algiers, accustomed to leveraging the Polisario to maintain geopolitical pressure, now sees this strategy undermined by a Mauritania determined to safeguard its sovereignty and stability.

Through this initiative, Mauritania is opting for pragmatic cooperation with partners like Morocco and the UAE, who share a common vision of regional stability and development.

Towards a Secure and Prosperous Economy:
By strengthening its borders and ensuring the security of its territory, Mauritania is creating ideal conditions for fostering economic development, particularly in strategic areas such as Nouadhibou and the border region with Morocco. These efforts pave the way for ambitious infrastructure projects and large-scale investments, reinforcing Mauritania’s position as a hub of stability and prosperity in West Africa.
