Nasser Bourita Presents the 2026 Budget of Moroccan Diplomacy Before the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Moroccans Living Abroad at the House of Councillors

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, presented on Monday, December 1, before the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense and MRE at the House of Councillors, the draft sectoral budget of the ministry for the year 2026.

During this presentation, Mr. Bourita highlighted the strategic priorities of Moroccan diplomacy for the coming year, fully aligned with the insightful vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who places the defense of the Kingdom’s supreme interests, the international influence of Morocco and support for the Moroccan community abroad at the center of diplomatic action.

The 2026 budget project aims in particular to consolidate the major achievements of Moroccan diplomacy, strengthen the Kingdom’s presence on regional and international stages, and continue efforts in priority areas:

  • The defense of territorial integrity and the promotion of the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the only viable solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
  • The reinforcement of Morocco’s strategic partnerships with both traditional allies and emerging partners.
  • Increased support for Moroccans residing abroad through a modernized consular network focused more closely on service quality.

Mr. Bourita also recalled that the year 2026 will be marked by major geopolitical transformations, to which Moroccan diplomacy intends to respond with agility, credibility and consistency, in line with the royal guidelines based on pragmatism, African solidarity and constructive multilateralism.

This presentation opens the way for a detailed examination of the budget by the Committee before its final adoption within the framework of the 2026 Finance Bill.
