Sidi Bou Othmane: Inauguration of an Industrial Unit for the Production of Hypodermic and Vaccination Syringes

IM Medicare inaugurated, on Friday at the Sidi Bou Othmane industrial park in the province of Rehamna, a new industrial unit dedicated to the production of hypodermic syringes and vaccination syringes.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, in the presence notably of the Governor of the Province of Rehamna, Aziz Bouignane.

Mobilising an investment of 85 million dirhams (MAD), the project will create 70 direct jobs, while increasing annual production capacity to 450 million syringes.

These medical devices are intended to meet the needs of the national market and to support the Kingdom’s orientation towards African markets.

This initiative also aligns with the national priority of strengthening sovereignty in the medical devices sector and aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Marrakech-Safi region by creating skilled jobs and consolidating the role of local companies in the regional industrial dynamic.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Mezzour stated that the project illustrates the ability of Moroccan companies to innovate, produce with excellence and establish themselves as reliable and recognised suppliers on the global vaccination devices market.

“This industrial unit symbolises the culmination of an ambitious vision aimed at positioning Morocco in strategic, high value-added sectors, contributing to the development of Made in Morocco in this field, to competitive import substitution, and to the strengthening of our country’s health sovereignty,” the Minister said.

For his part, IM Medicare Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Idrissi Kaitouni, stressed that this new industrial unit represents a major milestone in the company’s development, strengthening its production capacities for hypodermic and vaccination syringes, while meeting quality and safety requirements in line with international standards.

According to Mr Kaitouni, the project is part of the momentum of the national medical devices sector, whose indicators reflect sustained growth, with 1,378 jobs, 376 million dirhams in investments, a turnover of 903 million dirhams and a value-added rate of 46 percent, reflecting a rapid multiplication of investment, activity and wealth creation over the past twenty-five years.

“This project reflects IM Medicare’s commitment to contributing to national health sovereignty, meeting the needs of the local market and supporting the Kingdom’s opening towards African markets, through competitive, high value-added production,” he concluded.
