Gulf Cooperation Council Reaffirms Its Steadfast Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty Over the Sahara

The six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reaffirmed on Monday in New York their consistent positions in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.

“The GCC countries reaffirm their steadfast positions and decisions in support of the Moroccan identity of the Sahara,” declared the representative of Kuwait, speaking before the members of the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and Qatar.

The Gulf Cooperation Council also reiterated its support for the efforts of the United Nations and its Personal Envoy for the Moroccan Sahara to achieve a realistic and lasting political solution to this regional dispute, one that would help ensure peace and stability in the region.
