Mehdi Bensaid: Journalism Graduates Are the Cornerstone of Morocco’s Media Modernization
Graduates of journalism institutes represent a key pillar in the modernization of Morocco’s evolving media landscape, said the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, on Monday in Rabat.

Speaking at the inaugural lecture marking the start of the 2025-2026 academic year at the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC), Bensaid stressed the crucial role of young journalists in the process of modernizing the national media sector amid a constantly changing national and international context.
He noted that the challenges facing the media landscape require broad consultation, particularly with future journalism graduates, to ensure their perspectives are taken into account in efforts to reform and modernize Morocco’s media environment.
Addressing the impact of the digital revolution, which has profoundly reshaped the parameters of journalism, Bensaid emphasized the importance of adapting to these transformations to successfully meet the challenge of modernization. He added that the success of the democratic process depends on professional, credible, and responsible media communication.
For his part, ISIC Director Abdellatif Bensfia explained that this academic year comes at a time of significant reform focused on strengthening language proficiency, diversifying academic programs, and making internships mandatory from the first year.
He also highlighted that this gathering offered students an opportunity to learn more about recent developments in journalism training and education.
Held under the theme “National Media Perspectives Towards 2030,” the inaugural lecture featured a constructive debate on the present and future challenges of professional journalism, underlining its central role in Morocco’s democratic and social progress.
