France–Morocco: An Exemplary Military Cooperation, Between Land and Sea

Military cooperation between Morocco and France continues to strengthen with the launch of the naval exercise “Chebec 2025,” a strategic event that highlights the depth of friendship and trust between the two nations.

Following the successful completion of the land exercise “Chergui 2025” in the Errachidia region, both countries are now extending their collaboration to the maritime domain. This week, the Moroccan frigate Mohammed VI docked at the port of Toulon to take part in the 31st edition of Chebec, a joint exercise organized by the French Command for the Mediterranean and Black Sea Maritime Zone (CECMED).

The French command welcomed the arrival of the Moroccan vessel, describing it as “a symbol of the lasting cooperation and friendship between the Moroccan and French navies.” The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability, coordination, and joint operational capabilities at sea between the two naval forces, confirming the high level of operational excellence achieved by the Royal Moroccan Navy.

Before this Mediterranean deployment, Morocco had conducted intense maneuvers with the U.S. Navy off the coast of Al Hoceima, illustrating its determination to multiply strategic partnerships and position its fleet among the most active and capable in the region.

At sea as on land, Franco-Moroccan military cooperation stands out for its mutual trust, enduring commitment, and shared vision of regional security. More than just cooperation, it represents a true strategic pillar in service of stability and peace in the Mediterranean and North Africa.
