ONMT and EasyJet Seal Major Agreement to Strengthen Morocco’s Air Connectivity

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and EasyJet have signed a five-year agreement aimed at significantly boosting the Kingdom’s international air connectivity by partnering with one of Europe’s most influential airlines.

Initiated and negotiated by the ONMT, the alliance includes the opening of EasyJet’s first operational base outside Europe in Marrakech, the deployment of three Airbus aircraft, a 17 percent increase in seat capacity to Morocco starting in 2026 and an ambitious target of 12 million passengers by 2030, according to an ONMT statement. This agreement aims to accelerate Morocco’s rise on the global tourism stage.

At the heart of the partnership, EasyJet will inaugurate its first base outside Europe at Marrakech Airport. The ONMT notes that this move represents a strong signal of confidence in Morocco’s potential and is the result of extensive negotiation efforts. Three Airbus aircraft will be stationed there from launch, representing a global investment of more than 150 million euros. It is the first commitment of this scale by EasyJet in a new country in many years.

The increased capacity will result in a 17 percent rise in traffic to Morocco from 2026, along with expanded holiday offerings through EasyJet Holidays. This momentum will help distribute tourism flows across the country in line with the ONMT’s diversification and expansion strategy.

The opening of the Marrakech base is expected to generate nearly 100 direct jobs and several thousand indirect jobs across aviation, tourism and service sectors. According to the statement, each stationed aircraft represents approximately 30 million euros in gross added economic value for the local ecosystem, confirming the strategic role of air transport in regional economic growth.

With this new alliance, the ONMT further strengthens its position as a driving force behind new air service development and reinforces Morocco’s status as a leading global destination by 2030. The Office remains committed to building strong, competitive and future-focused connectivity.
