Casablanca: 15,000 Runners Expected at Upcoming Edition of the 10KM International by WeCasablanca

The 2025 edition of the 10KM International by WeCasablanca will take place on September 28 in Casablanca, with the participation of 15,000 national and international runners.

The announcement was made Tuesday at a press conference in Casablanca by the organizers, who noted that this urban race, certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), is organized by Casablanca Events & Animation in partnership with the Casablanca Commune. They added that this new event continues the efforts launched in 2016 by the Local Development Company (SDL) to position the city on the international urban sports scene.

In a statement to MAP, Mohamed Jouahri, Director General of Casablanca Events & Animation, said, “With this 2025 edition, Casablanca is taking a new step,” stressing that “the 10KM International by WeCasablanca represents a unifying experience, open to all, and a fine showcase of the energy of our metropolis.”

He explained that the course has been carefully designed to combine athletic performance, urban accessibility, and the promotion of Casablanca’s heritage. The starting line will be set at the foot of the famous Twin Center towers on Boulevard Zerktouni. Runners will then follow a route passing through some of the city’s most iconic avenues, including Boulevards d’Anfa, My Youssef, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, and the Corniche, offering a dynamic and scenic backdrop for the competition.

For his part, Abdellatif Enassiri, Vice-President of the Casablanca Commune in charge of sports, told MAP that this race is part of the sporting momentum the city has been experiencing, which includes hosting numerous international competitions. He highlighted the high standards of this event, which blends athletic performance with the discovery of Casablanca’s landmark sites.

Ahead of the race, a dedicated sports village will be set up at Place Rachidi in the heart of Casablanca from September 17 to 27, welcoming participants, families, and the general public. Designed as a true gathering place, this friendly space will offer a varied program including sporting activities, meetings, and interactive experiences.

Workshops dedicated to sports, encounters with renowned athletes, and sponsor exhibition areas will enrich the program. The sports village will also give visitors the chance to explore the dynamic world of urban sports while enjoying a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

For nearly a decade, Casablanca has pursued an inclusive sports policy, seeking to connect performance with community engagement. Organizers emphasized that through this new challenge, the city reaffirms its vision of making sport a driver of urban vitality and a source of shared pride.
