Kenitra Province: Intense On-the-Ground Mobilization to Shelter People Affected by Flooding

Sheltering operations for citizens affected by the climatic disturbances impacting several areas of Kenitra province continued on Friday, under the supervision of local authorities and in coordination with the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection services.

According to local authorities, 2,500 families have so far been accommodated in a reception center set up in Douar Lahmassis, with continuous support from the authorities, who are working to respond swiftly to the daily needs of the population.

Despite the difficult weather conditions, a sense of calm and relief prevails among families after their installation in the equipped tents. This atmosphere reflects the scale of the on-the-ground mobilization and the constant vigilance of local authorities and the various services involved in supporting citizens during this exceptional situation, whether through securing accommodation areas or providing blankets and food supplies.

In this regard, the Head of the Division of Economic Affairs and Coordination at the Prefecture of Kenitra Province, Adil Khattabi, stated in a declaration to MAP that, in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, tents, blankets, and food assistance have been made available to support the population and ensure the safety of citizens.

For his part, Abderahmane, one of the beneficiaries of the sheltering operations, said that local authorities have set up equipped tents, provided blankets and sufficient food supplies, and ensured permanent security within the reception areas, adding that all those involved are working to meet the needs of the population.

Meanwhile, Fatna, an octogenarian accommodated with her husband, expressed her deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, praising the continuous mobilization and vigilance of the authorities to guarantee the safety of citizens.

The Douar Lahmassis sheltering center is equipped with a mobile medical unit, made up of medical and paramedical staff, who provide first aid and monitor the health conditions of evacuated individuals.

In parallel, the relevant authorities are working to preserve livestock, which constitutes the main source of livelihood for the local population, by setting up a dedicated area for this purpose.
