São Paulo: Istiqlal Party Highlights the Historic Significance of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 Supporting the Moroccan Autonomy Plan
The Istiqlal Party emphasized on Saturday in São Paulo the historic scope of Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted on October 31, which confirms the autonomy initiative proposed by the Kingdom as the only serious and credible basis for reaching a political and lasting solution to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Speaking during the General Assembly of the Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI), the party’s representative, Abdellatif Mâzouz, stated that this acknowledgment is the result of sustained diplomatic efforts led by the Kingdom. He underlined that Morocco has always remained committed to dialogue and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
He also highlighted the rapid development taking place in Morocco’s southern provinces, supported by significant investments across multiple sectors.
While reiterating the relevance and strength of the autonomy plan within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, he noted that Morocco has consistently called on the other parties to engage in dialogue to reach a final resolution to this artificial dispute, one capable of ensuring security and joint development for all Maghreb nations.
The Istiqlal Party, which has continuously supported these peaceful and unifying approaches, calls on its partners to support this momentum and contribute to resolving a conflict that has lasted far too long.
Mr. Mâzouz concluded by reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to promoting global peace and stability and to pursuing lasting political solutions.
