Historic Victory: The UN Security Council Adopts Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the Only Basis for a Solution to the Sahara Issue

In this resolution, adopted by 11 votes in favor and only 3 abstentions (China, Russia, and Pakistan), the Security Council renewed the mandate of MINURSO until October 31, 2026, while expressing its full support for the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy in their efforts to conduct negotiations based solely on the Moroccan autonomy proposal.

This UN text puts an end to the illusions and maneuvers of the Algerian military regime, which for decades sought to impose an outdated and unrealistic approach. The Council confirmed, in clear and explicit terms, that the path to a solution runs through Rabat, not through Algiers or Tindouf.

The adoption of this resolution marks a stinging setback for Algeria and its “Polisario” proxies, now marginalized on the international stage. The Security Council, the world’s highest body of legitimacy, has chosen the path of reason and realism: that of Morocco.
